Open Office is the Free & Open Source Alternative to the Microsoft Office Suite of Tools
Business, Charts, Client Software, Desktop Apps, Living Under a Rock, Open Source
Open Office is the leading opensource office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and much, much more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all of your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages such as the Microsoft Office softwares. It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose you desire.
The Open Office Suite is easy to learn, and if you’re already using another office software package, you’ll take to Open Office straight away. Open Office’s(OO) World-wide native-language community means that Open Office is probably available and supported in your native language. And if you already have files from another office package, such as Miscrosoft’s Word, Excel, or Power Point – Open office will almost definitely read them with no difficulty what so ever.
I have been using Open Office for quite some time now and I must admit that it is completely amazing. All of the documents I created over the years in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Works, seamlessly both opened and edited with ease. I have never had any complaints what so ever, except that it might be nice if it came bundled with an open source email client like Zimbra or Spicebird.
An additional benefit of OO is the hundreds of open source extensions to customize your install. Another benefit of using OO is that any time you have a question or need a little help to make the most of your install, help is just a few simple clicks away. Support.OpenOffice.org houses a help forum and thorough documentation on the software. However, the most likely best benefit of using OO is that it is COMPLETELY 100% FREE FOR ANY USE WHAT SO EVER.
